Rationale

With the long-standing good relationship between Thailand and Japan, Japan has become a model for the development of various countries in Asia, including Thailand. Efforts to learn from Japan's experiences and advances have resulted in a study that has led to a study of Japanese knowledge in various fields. The Japanese Studies Association of Thailand (JSAT) was established from a network of Japanese studies scholars studying the humanities and social sciences through the initiative of the Japan Studies Project, the Institute of East Asian Studies, Thammasat University, and the support of The Japan Foundation. At present, members of the Japanese Studies Association of Thailand (JSAT) are composed of academics, researchers, students, and the public, both Thai and foreign people.

The Japanese Studies Association of Thailand's primary aim is to organise national academic conferences that are held annually. Educational institutions take turns hosting the conference to provide a platform for exchanging learning, debating, following up on movements and seeking academic cooperation between Thai and foreign scholars that will lead to academic progress in Japanese studies in Thailand.

For the 2025 Annual Conference, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Thaksin University has had the honor of being selected by the JSAT Board of Directors to host the 19th National Conference of the Japanese Studies Association of Thailand, with the main theme of "Breaking Through: Transforming Japanese Language Teaching to Address the Needs of Digital 5.0 Learners."
